To investigate the effect of soil additives in reducing the effect of water deficit stress on sugar beet, an experiment was performed as a combined analysis in two regions based on randomized complete block design with four replications. Experimental treatments were location factor at two levels of Miandoab and Malekan, water deficit stress factor at three levels of 50 mm (Lack of stress), 110 mm (moderate stress) and 170 mm (severe stress) evaporation from class A evaporation pan and soil additive factor at four levels of control (no soil additives), superabsorbent, mycorrhiza and livestock manure. In the present study, the use of soil additive treatments in both regions were able to improve the yield of pure sugar compared to control. In irrigation... |

In this study, the effect of oven temperature (OT) and slice thickness (ST) of orange-fleshed sweet potato (OFSP) on Beta-carotene, carbohydrate, and moisture contents of OFSP flour was determined. A 22 full factorial experimental design with two replications was used. The washed, peeled and sliced OFSP roots were dried to constant weights in an oven. The dried slices were milled into flour using a grinder and then sieved using a 200 µm sieve to achieve particle size uniformity. The colour parameters, carbohydrate, and moisture contents of the resultant flour were determined. Statistical analyses were done using Design Expert 12 software at (p < 0.05) significance level. Results showed that OT had significantly negative effect... |

The aim of this research is to determine the draft force of Ard plough in silt loam soil. Field and laboratories test were taken to measure the actual draft force and utilize it as input for draft prediction. PI-Buckingham's pi theorem using dimensional analysis used to develop a mathematical model. IBM SPSS statistics software was applied to validate and verify the developed model. The relationship between the measured and predicted values of the draft force evaluated R2 is 0.91. The predicted draft force value of skewness and kurtosis is in the range of accepted values. The performance of the predicted draft force was checked using RRMSE and CRM. Investigation findings demonstrate that the derived mathematical equation was successful and viable for... |

Optimum water need of sweet pepper and the critical irrigation level to be applied in order to achieve a reasonable economic yield was determined. Greenhouse (controlled) was conducted with sweet pepper subjected to three (3) varying water applications; 100% Full Irrigation Treatment (FIT), 70% FIT and 50% FIT. Crop water use (evapotranspiration) was determined using the water balance method. For the agronomic parameters measurement, weekly measurements of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and canopy temperature were measured. The sweet pepper were determined in batches during harvest. Result showed that the growth... |

Exploiting geothermal energy to dry crops needs a properly designed geothermal crop dryer that is sized to meet the drying requirements of the crops to be dried. This study designed and fabricated a geothermal maize dryer that was tested to determine the drying time required to drying maize grains to 13% moisture content at Menengai Geothermal Project site within Nakuru County, Kenya. The main components of the geothermal dryer comprised of a dryer cabinet, heat exchanger, and fan unit. Once the air used for maize drying was heated by the heat exchanger, the sized fan unit blew hot air across the maize grains. Geothermal water from a discharging well within the project site supplied the heat to the sized heat exchanger. The designed geothermal maize dryer... |

The experiment was conducted to evaluated Effect of husking process on the rice productivity for two cultivars Mashkhab (M-33) and Jasmine (JA). Two types of machines (S-KB40 and Y-ST50) were tested at three ranges of clearance between cylinders of 0.5 mm, 0.7mm and 0.9mm for two rice cultivars of JA and M-33. The experiments were carried out in a factorial experiment under complete randomized design with three replications, the study was of the characteristics following machine productivity, power required and husking efficiency, and the qualitative characteristics for two rice JA and M-33 cultivars included, broken rice ratio and head rice . The results showed that S-KB40 machine is better than Y-ST50 machine in all studied conditions for both... |

The main objective of this study is to assess the monitoring system of surface water quality in Can Tho using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluster Analysis (CA). Water samples were monthly collected in 2020 at 35 sampling sites and then analyzed for 18 parameters including temperature, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), ammonium (NH4+-N), nitrate (NO3ˉ-N), nitrite (NO2ˉ-N), orthophosphate (PO43ˉ-P), chromium (Cr), fluoride (F-), arsenic (As), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and coliform. These values were compared with the national technical regulation on surface water quality and calculated water quality index (WQI). The findings indicated that surface water... |

Estimating the energy required to produce a crop is an important indicator in analyzing and evaluating agricultural sustainability. The purpose of this study was to investigate the energy use of strategic sugar beet crop in Qazvin provinces of Iran. In this study, data were collected from growers using a face-to-face questionnaire to calculate the consumption inputs (such as irrigation water, fuel consumption, seeds, manpower, electricity, machinery, fertilizers and pesticides) for different seedbed preparation, planting and harvesting operations. The results showed that the average input energy of sugar beet was 52055 MJ ha -1 and the average output energy was 532135 MJ ha -1. In sugar beet production, the highest and lowest energy inputs... |

The factors influencing on seed germination and wheat yield are such as the optimum use of tillage and seeding methods. This study was a randomized complete block experimental design with four treatments and four replications to determine the suitable tillage method for a grain drill with bent leg opener (bent leg grain drill) and also determine the effect of these implements on soil moisture conservation and rainfed wheat yield in dry soil conditions. Treatments were seeding wheat by a bent leg grain drill in four tillage application of direct seeding (no-tillage), bent leg tillage (reduced tillage), bent leg tillage + disc (reduced tillage), and chisel plough + disc (conventional tillage). Results indicated that tillage... |

The growth and yield of green-leaf Romaine lettuce grown under a tropical greenhouse using the vertical aeroponic system with rootzone cooling were evaluated in this study. The experiment was set up using a Combined Analysis in Strip-Plot design in a 6m x 12m greenhouse wherein the two rootzone cooling methods, a ground heat exchanger (GHE) and improvised chiller, were the treatments while harvest periods of 20, 25, and 30 days after transplanting (DAT) were the horizontal factors, and the levels of the tower (top, middle and bottom) were the vertical factors. The IRRI-Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) was used for data analysis. Results revealed that longer and broader leaves and higher yield were observed using the improvised... |

Studies have shown that mechanical means of de-feathering will lead to an increased poultry processing rate. This study evaluated a de-feathering machine with scalding tank. The machine was evaluated in terms of machine plucking time, machine capacity and machine efficiency. A completely randomized experimental design was carried out using three poultry birds (broiler, cockerel and layer) and three scalding temperatures (60, 70 and 80 oC) at machine constant speed of 480 rpm and at three replicates. The average machine plucking time obtained were 21.0, 20.6 and 23.3 s for broiler, layer and cockerel respectively. The average machine capacities were 175, 179 and 159 birds/hr for broiler, layer and cockerel birds respectively while the average... |
